Dual Undergraduate Degree Programme in Economics,
2025 Entry
1. Programme Overview:
Tsinghua University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong jointly run a four-year university dual degree programme in Economics. Participating students receive graduation certificates from Tsinghua University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong upon meeting the respective degree requirements of the programme.
1.1 Project Features and Professional Advantages:
1) The programme is entirely in English and is open to global enrollment.
2) Diversified cultural experience. Students will experience the study life and campus culture of the two universities, as well as have access to alumni networks of both universities.
3) This programme will expose students to a global perspective, as well as an in-depth focus on China. The majority of faculty have obtained Doctorate degrees from prestigious universities. In addition, many faculty professors have taught and conducted research at prestigious universities abroad. Many of the faculty conduct research on local issues, aiming to deepen the world’s understanding of the Chinese economy.
4) The programme offers a combination of theory and application, emphasizing a solid foundation in major courses, as well as providing a broad selection of elective courses for students to choose based on their personal interests and career plans.
5) Employment prospects for students are broad, with many students choosing to work in the public sector, including agencies concerned with national economic development, as well as private sector companies in areas such as investment banking, commercial banking, investment management companies, financial and management consulting, as well as other large enterprises.
1.2 Language of Instruction, Educational System, and Degree Conferment:
1) Instruction of this programme will entirely be in English. Those who have completed the required curriculum, passed the assessments, and passed the graduation thesis defense can obtain their bachelor's degree certificates issued by Tsinghua University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong respectively. Tsinghua University will award a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong will award a Bachelor of Social Science in Economics.
2) The degree will be offered in four academic years, with two years each at Tsinghua University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
1.3 Admissions Target:
This programme enrolls students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and international students. Please refer to "Qualification of Applicants" for more information.
2. Applications and Requirements
2.1 Students from Mainland China:
2.1.1 Qualification of Applicants:
a) Applicants must be holders of a Chinese passport and have registered for the 2025 The National College Entrance Examination.
b) In regard to the undergraduate admissions into this programme, students who apply through the provinces that have multiple rounds must apply during the first round. Students whose provinces have only one round shall apply at that time. Students who can be guaranteed admission shall apply during that respective round. No matter the type of admission, every student must label Tsinghua as their first-choice university and be admitted.
c) Applicants must meet all other admission requirements (physical examination standards, change of major requirements, etc.) specified by the Ministry of Education, the individual province, and by the university.
d) Applicants must have a strong interest in economics and show strong development potential.
e) Applicants must have a high level of English language proficiency.
2.1.2. Application:
Students should register online and complete the application form in the registration system. Following successful submission, the application form will be printed, signed, scanned, and uploaded together with other application materials. The application materials are not to be posted in the mail.

2.1.3 Process of Application:
a) Initial review: The application review committee will evaluate every student and nominate students to continue onto later testing.
b) Testing and confirmation: Students who pass the initial review are required to participate in the test organized by our university. The test schedule will be announced in the registration system. The application review committee will ultimately evaluate and confirm students based on their application materials and test performance.
c) Acceptance: After the dual degree has been accredited, if the student is admitted through their respective provinces or have been guaranteed admission, the student will enter the “Dual Degree in Economics” programme after entering the university.

2.2 Students from Hong Kong and Macao:
Identification:
1) Students from Hong Kong: Holders of a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card or Hong Kong Identity Cards, as well as the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents or the Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents.
2) Students from Macao: Holders of a Macao SAR Resident Identity Card, as well as a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents or a Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents.

2.3 Students from Taiwan:
Identification:
Students from Taiwan: Holders of a Residence permit for Taiwan residents of the People's Republic of China or a Mainland travel permit for Taiwan residents, and a valid identity certificate for residence in Taiwan.
Taiwan students must apply in accordance with Tsinghua University's regulations for admitting Taiwanese high school graduates based on the Subject Ability Test results from the Taiwan University Entrance Exam. Selection will be conducted through a comprehensive evaluation process, and further details will be announced in due course.
2.4 International Students:
Identification: Foreign citizens and the conditions set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of the Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met. International students can choose to register through either Tsinghua University or The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

3. Acceptance:
Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and international students who apply for this programme will be jointly selected by Tsinghua University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong to shortlist the candidates. Admission results of Macao, Taiwan, and international students will be announced in May 2025. Admission results for students from Mainland China and Hong Kong will be announced in August 2025.
